I think that Thanksgiving may be my favorite time of the year. The fall camellias are just beginning to paint their portraits in the southern landscapes, and the temperatures are just perfect! Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends and an opportunity to reflect on the things in life that are really important.
I know that many of you will be traveling this time of year, so please be safe on the roads. Take a little extra time and get to your destination with no mishaps. Enjoy every moment with the people that love you, because life is so uncertain. We never know when this Thanksgiving might be our last one, so savor every moment!
Eat plenty of turkey and all the other foods that make you happy. I think that is a rule for Thanksgiving! Enjoy any camellia blooms that are blooming in your garden, because camellias truly are a most special blessing! Most importantly, take time to be thankful! This is the season for the grateful heart!
On a personal note, I want to thank each one of you for all the many things that you do for our business. You might just read my blog, or maybe you’re the one that stops in on Friday or Saturday to see what is blooming. Maybe, you are the one that has shares our Facebook posts on your page. Sometimes, you are the one that popped up on a not so great day just to make me smile! Whatever your roll in the scheme of things here, the Ingenious Gardener along with a few trusted feline friends want to thank you for being a part of our lives. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Gene Phillips is one of the owners of Gene’s Nursery in Savannah, Ga. He is a 2nd generation grower and attributes his love of Camellias to his father, who inspired him to breath in the beauty that they bring to him but more importantly to others. In his ‘free’ time, you’ll find him wandering through old gardens, trying to identify flowers or taking countless number of photos to share with others! He also enjoys meeting people and comparing ‘garden’ stories.
